NJHS Machinac Island Trip.

On May 5th & 6th several of our NJHS students had the opportunity to visit Mackinac Island. Fortunately, the ice cleared a few days prior to the trip so we were able to take a ferry to the island. Seventeen of our students and 7 adults participated in "Academics at the Grand". This program is designed for high achieving students that show promise for future leadership. Once on the island, students and parents endured an 8 mile bike ride around the island. By mid afternoon the students were fortunate to experience a science presentation at the Grand Hotel by Chuck Gaidica, WDIV's weather meteorologist. They even made the evening Channel 4 news!!! Other activities included: a formal dinner at the Grand, an inspiration speaker, dance and an hour carriage tour, which included the history of the island. To complete the trip, the students had the opportunity to cross the bridge via motor coach and had plenty of time to purchase island souvenirs and fudge. Fun was had by all! Great kids - awesome parents! A special thanks to Mrs. Walton, our NJHS Advisor.
