Penny Wars....Amazing

Last week our NJHS hosted a contest to raise money for the fight against Cystic Fibrosis. Their idea was simple, each last hour class would have a container that students would put pennies in and the class with the most change at the end of the week would win the contest....with a slight twist. The twist was that if someone put anything but pennies in the container, that amount of money would count against that class. For example, if someone put a quarter in the jar, that would be a negative 25 cents. When all was said and done, the winner was the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. SCMS raised $2499.60. Great job to everyone, NJHS and our NJHS Advisor Mrs. Walton

Tuesday, April First is a Half Day

Tuesday April 1, 2014 is a 1/2 day for all district elementary and middle schools. Hours 4, 5 and 6.

Instagram/Technology Issues

Technology is absolutely awesome but every now and then it turns against us. This week we've had a few reports of an Instagram account that was created that is causing us some problems. The account is spreading rumors, claiming to be different students and saying inappropriate things. On our end, as with most "issues" we are trying to treat this as a teachable moment. We pride ourselves with our Anti-Bullying efforts which includes appropriate uses of technology but with everything else we do, we can always use some help. Please have a discussion with your child not only about Instagram, but with all forms of technology, bullying and the dangers associated with the internet. We will be doing some "behind the scenes stuff" to try to get these type of occurrences to stop. Here is a link to some Tips for Parents regarding Instagram. Thanks for your help

SCMS Activity Night, Friday March 28th

Our SCMS PTO is sponsoring an Activity Night for all SCMS students this Friday, March 28th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Tickets are $2 all this week and $3 at the door. Students must have their Student ID to purchase a ticket and to enter the Activity Night. As with all SCMS Activity Nights, this is only for current SCMS students. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to stop by and help out.

Sheriff Car at SCMS

Got a phone call this morning wondering why a sheriff's car was at SCMS. No worries...SCMS Boater Safety is all this week and we're happy to invite the St. Clair County Sheriff Department to present this program to our 7th graders

AP Meeting Time Change

The Advanced Placement Meeting at SCHS on March 25th has changed it's time to 7:00 pm. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Interested in AP Classes Next Year?

There will be an Advanced Placement meeting to be held in the SCHS cafeteria on March 25th, was slated to begin at 6:30pm but the time has been changed to 7:00 pm. This would be for any incoming 9th graders who may be considering taking an AP course.

SCHS Freshmen Orientation

Just a reminder that SCHS is hosting their Freshmen Orientation tonight (Wednesday, March 19th) at 6:30 pm in their cafeteria. This is a very informative and important meeting for all current 8th graders and their parents. Among other items, students will leave the meeting understanding the scheduling process for next year, what classes they will be taking and a 4 year plan. Please make every effort to attend.

Track Practice

It's hard to believe that with the weather we've had (and continue to have), Track practice is right around the corner. 7th and 8th Grade Track Practice starts on Monday, March 31st. Practice begins at 3:30 and ends at 4:30 PM.

Band Spaghetti Dinner

Because of our wonderful Michigan weather, the band spaghetti dinner/performance had to be rescheduled from last week. The new day and time is Tuesday March 18th, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at SCHS.

Interested in SCHS Cheerleading?

There will be open gym for 8th grade girls interested in SCHS Cheer on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 at the ECEC on 6th street (the old Middle School/Riverview East Building. Girls interested can take the Eddy Transfer Bus to Eddy Elementary and walk over. Open gyms will be offered until the end of March.

Our Washington DC Little Caesar Pizza Kit Fundraiser pick up is this Tuesday, March 11th in our Aux Gym from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
