Looking For Some Summer Help to Get a Jump on Next Year

We know as parents and teachers that the bar continues to rise in education....which is a good thing. We also know that in education the key to success is reading. There is not much we can do in school or in life that reading doesn't play an important part in. Of course, in order to read and comprehend we need to understand the meaning of various words. Below are links to words that the Common Core indicates that students at each grade level should understand the meaning of. I've also listed Common Core Math Vocab. Before you look at the lists and fall out of your chair, let me tell you that the lists are aggressive...which is good. There were a number of terms that I had to take a second look at. Going over these lists with your student during the summer will pay huge dividends when school starts back in September. Make it fun. Make it a family game where every member of the family gets involved. It doesn't have to be work or painful and it's ok if your child sees that Mom and Dad don't know every term. I'm constantly looking for ways to help our students and get our families involved.....here is a GREAT way. Kindergarten First Grade Second Grade Third Grade Forth Grade Fifth Grade Sixth Grade Seventh Grade Eighth Grade Freshmen-Sophomore Junior-Senior Common Core Math Vocab
