Monday May 5th is a Half Day for students. Hours 4, 5 and 6.

6th Grade Orientation

This Thursday, May 1st, is our 6th Grade Orientation for all current 5th graders. Our current 6th graders will be dismissed at 11:35. There is a Parent Orientation Meeting for all 5th grade parents Thursday night at 7:00 pm in our cafeteria.

K-9 Visitor

Today we had a surprise visitor at SCMS. The Sheriff's Department stopped by for a "Social Visit" today with one of their K-9 Units. A social visit means they asked if they could walk the building with their dog so that in case it is ever needed, the dog would be a little more familiar with our school. No lockers, bags, or classrooms were searched.

Snowday Makeup Days/Times

Because we went over the allowed number of snowdays, we have to make up some days/time. Without getting too much into the rules of what can and can't be done, here's the short version. The state doesn't count days, it counts hours (there is the first confusing point), So even though we're allowed to missed a certain number of snowday, we are really held to holding a certain number of hours. So, now that I've muddied the water, here is how the middle and elementary schools are handling it. We are having school the Monday after Easter. Our last week of school, Monday June 9th through Thursday June 12th are now full student days. Friday June 13th is now a half day for students. In addition to that, starting on Monday, April 28th, our school day will be extended 7 minutes. Our new dismissal time will be 3:26. If you have a high schooler, please check with the high school for their new adjusted schedule

No School This Friday (But School on Monday)

Just a reminder that we have this Friday, April 18th, off but because of the number of snowdays we have had this year, we will be having school this Monday, April 21st.
